Introducing the ‘Hot Seat:’ Oakridge softball father-daughter tandem steps to the plate

Eagles assistant coach Red Pastor and senior standout Jasmine Pastor lead off new CatchMark SportsNet series.

MUSKEGON — Red Pastor has coached a lot of softball in his life, many games spent coaching senior daughter Jasmine.

But was the Oakridge softball father-daughter tandem ready to handle the heat?

You might say they knocked it out of the park. The Pastors handled every question lobbed at them by CatchMark SportsNet’s Scott DeCamp as the trio launched a new series called “Hot Seat.”

The weekly series will feature a West Michigan Conference athlete, coach and sometimes both, as was the case with the Pastors, as DeCamp poses a series of fun, rapid-fire questions in a video interview.

Red Pastor is in his 11th season as an assistant with Oakridge’s softball program. He’s in his fifth year as president of the Michigan Sabercats softball organization.

Jasmine Pastor is a returning Division 2 first-team all-stater for the Eagles. She plays infield and bats third in the lineup. Last season, she batted .435 with 11 home runs and 66 RBIs.

Oakridge was ranked No. 2 in the state last season and finished with a 34-5 record.

The Eagles opened the 2022 season with a 14-2, five-inning victory at home over Mona Shores Tuesday. Pastor finished with a home run, single and three RBIs.
