3 girls golfers from West Michigan Conference earn 2022 first-team all-state honors

Ludington’s Emma McKinley and Montague’s Mackenzie Goudreau and Natalie Kellogg finished 1-2-3, respectively, in the final West Michigan Conference girls golf individual standings this season.

All three placed in the top 10 of their respective divisions at the state finals.

Fittingly, all three have been selected first-team all-state by the Michigan Interscholastic Golf Coaches Association.

McKinley was a first-team pick in Division 3, while Goudreau and Kellogg were first-team selections in Division 4.

McKinley, a junior, finished the season with a scoring average of 78.8. She was a top-10 medalist in all seven invitationals in which she competed. McKinley was individual medalist at three events: Personal-best 71 at Tullymore, 74 at Lincoln Hills and 78 at White Lake.

McKinley won the West Michigan Conference championship with a 75 at Lincoln Golf Club. She was medalist in the Division 3 regional at Katke Golf Course, and she tied for ninth in the state finals at Forest Akers East.

Goudreau, a junior, broke her own school record with a 75 en route to winning the Greater Muskegon Athletic Association tournament title at Stonegate Golf Club. She placed third in the regional at Moss Ridge and fourth in the state finals at The Meadows.

Goudreau also was first-team all-state as a sophomore in 2021 and honorable mention as a freshman in 2020. She was part of Montague’s back-to-back state title teams in 2020 and 2021.

Kellogg, a senior, shot her personal-best round of 80 on day one of the state finals en route to a fifth-place finish in the two-day event at The Meadows.

Kellogg was all-state honorable mention as a junior in 2021. She also was part of back-to-back state championship teams for Montague in 2020 and 2021. She earned medalist honors at the Traverse City Central Invitational.
