NORTON SHORES – Muskegon vs. Mona Shores.
Big Reds vs. Sailors, 7 p.m. Friday, Sailor Stadium.
When the crosstown-rival football teams collide, more than a conference title is on the line. This is about bragging rights for 365 days. This is about history.
Muskegon has had its way with Mona Shores over the course of time. The Big Reds lead the all-time series, 32-8, and they boast an 18-2 record in games played at Sailor Stadium.
The last time these teams played at Sailor Stadium? Muskegon rolled to a 53-0 victory in 2019. Mona Shores rallied, however, and captured its first state championship several weeks later.
The Sailors got a little vengeance last season. They defeated the Big Reds, 21-14, in the first game played at renovated Hackley Stadium.
What will happen Friday night in this developing rivalry?
Nobody knows, but CatchMark SportsNet will be there. It’s our Game of the Week. We’ll be on location, hosting a live-streamed pregame show at 6 p.m. and providing wall-to-wall coverage.
For now, check out our goosebump-inducing hype video above!
