Friday’s girls basketball district finals across West Michigan are loaded with storylines, revenge games, regular-season rematches, and programs looking to finish their postseason runs with a trophy. From Muskegon and Rockford renewing their rivalry to Fremont and Big Rapids meeting again with a title on the line, the road to regionals runs through one unforgettable night.

District 4 — Muskegon

Where: Mona Shores Sailor Center
When: Starts Monday, Mar. 2 and runs through Friday, Mar. 6

Muskegon and Rockford are set for a highly anticipated showdown in the Division 1 District 4 final after both teams handled business in Wednesday’s semifinals at Mona Shores. Rockford rolled past Greenville 56–32, while Muskegon dominated Cedar Springs 65–26 behind a big night from Dy’Nasti Bell. The matchup sets up an exciting rematch, as the Big Reds previously edged the Rams 58–51 during the regular season. With Rockford looking for revenge and Muskegon looking to repeat its earlier success, Friday’s Division 1 District 4 championship has all the ingredients for a thrilling battle.

District 74 — Kent City

Kent City and Ravenna will meet in the Division 3 District 74 championship after both teams advanced in Wednesday’s semifinals at Kent City. The Eagles secured their spot with a 50–39 win over North Muskegon, jumping out early before the Norse battled back in the second half to cut the deficit to five. Ellie Hansen led Kent City with 14 points while Kenzy Freeland added 13. North Muskegon fought hard down the stretch but struggled from the outside, finishing the season 12–11 while showing strong effort and closing the gap late against a solid Eagles squad.

In the other semifinal, Ravenna cruised past Western Michigan Christian 45–30 behind Natalie Rosel’s 19 points, taking a 13–9 first-quarter lead and carrying a 27–19 advantage into halftime before pulling away with a 14–6 third-quarter surge for a 41–25 lead. Abby May scored eight, while Emily Postema, Addy Woodring, and Joslyn Nutt each chipped in five. WMC was led by Madie Folkema’s 19 points, with Eveline Derdowski adding five, as the Warriors finished the season 11–11.

Now it’s set: Ravenna (16–7) vs. Kent City on Friday for the Division 3 District 74 title, a rematch of Kent City’s 53–43 regular-season win over the Bulldogs with a district championship on the line.

District 73 — White Cloud

Division 3 District 73 at White Cloud is down to a heavyweight final, with Shelby and Hart set to meet for the district title on Friday after both teams advanced through Wednesday’s semifinals. Shelby made a loud statement with a 54–15 rout of Holton, powered by Jayna Burmeister’s dominant double-double of 26 points and 16 rebounds, along with three assists and three steals. The Tigers jumped out to a 24–6 first-quarter lead, carried a 36–11 advantage into halftime, and finished the job with a strong third quarter. Michelle Peterson added 14 points, while Annabelle Stark chipped in nine points and eight rebounds.

Hart earned its spot with a 49–38 victory over White Cloud, overcoming an early deficit before regaining control in the second half. Rilynn Porter led the Pirates with 16 points, while Reese Smith added nine and Natalie Rosema finished with eight. White Cloud was led by Andi Vincent’s 21 points, with Addyson Cook contributing eight points and eight rebounds.

Friday’s Division 3 District 73 final sets up an intriguing matchup, although Shelby enters with the regular-season edge, having defeated Hart 49–38 earlier in the year and again 53–44. With the Tigers looking to continue their strong season and the Pirates hoping to flip the script on the biggest stage, the district championship game promises plenty of intensity.

District 35 — Cadillac

Division 2 District 35 at Cadillac is set for a familiar, must-see finish, as Fremont and Big Rapids advanced to Friday’s district championship with impressive semifinal wins. Fremont pulled away late to beat Cadillac 51–27, using full-court pressure to force 20 second-half turnovers and dominate the final two quarters. Ella Shriver delivered a career night with 20 points, including four 3-pointers and 15 points in the second half, while Taylor DeKuiper stuffed the stat sheet with 17 rebounds, five points, five assists, and five steals. Esther Vissia and Railee Durham added seven points and five steals each as the Packers improved to 20–3.

In the other semifinal, Big Rapids outlasted Ludington 42–36, using a huge third quarter to flip the game after Ludington led at halftime. With Big Rapids riding momentum and Fremont bringing the confidence of last year’s district final win over the Cardinals, Friday’s title game has all the makings of a high-energy rematch with a trophy on the line.

District 42 — Orchard View

Division 2 District 42 at Orchard View is set for a strong championship matchup as Spring Lake and Whitehall advanced through Wednesday’s semifinals. Spring Lake rolled past Muskegon Orchard View 54–15, taking control early with an 11–3 first quarter lead and stretching the margin to 30–5 by halftime before finishing the game comfortably.

Whitehall earned its spot with a 36–24 win over Fruitport, using steady defense and balanced scoring to pull away in the second half. Peyton Schultz led the Vikings with 14 points, while Clare Westerlund added 10 points, five rebounds, two assists, four steals, and two blocks. Emma Decker contributed four points, six rebounds, two assists, two steals, and two blocks, and Janie Fagan added four points and three rebounds. Whitehall’s defense was key throughout the night, with strong efforts from Kate Beda and Reese Hesse helping slow Fruitport’s offense.

Now the stage is set for Friday’s District 42 final, where Spring Lake (13–7) meets Whitehall with a district title on the line. Both teams enter with momentum, setting up a competitive battle at Orchard View.
