Lady MAT CAT Invitational Results and Winners

Note: The pictures here don’t include all podium winners.

The Lady MAT CAT Wrestling Invitational brought girls wrestlers from across Michigan to Montague on December 28 for a large and competitive individual tournament. Listed on Flo Wrestling’s event calendar, the meet featured athletes from more than 62 schools and served as a key in-season test for programs at multiple levels.

The tournament used an individual bracket format, allowing wrestlers to compete for podium finishes in each weight class. Brackets were deep across the board, with many divisions featuring six or more competitors. Wrestlers ranged from freshmen to seniors, and the event showcased both experienced champions and rising talent in Michigan’s growing girls wrestling scene.

Pine River Area claimed the team championship with 94 points, narrowly finishing ahead of Lowell with 90 points. Plainwell placed third with 83 points, followed by Portland and Romeo to complete the top five. Several teams scored consistently across weight classes, highlighting depth rather than reliance on one standout athlete.

Individual champions came from schools throughout the state. Kalamazoo Central’s Jahnavi Marion won the 100-pound title, while Lowell captured championships at 105 and 110 pounds. Whitehall’s Kassie Sapp earned first place at 130 pounds, providing a strong local showing. Romeo also had multiple champions, including Belicia Manuel at 155 pounds and Kaili Manuel at 170 pounds.

The Lady MAT CAT Invitational’s presence on FloWrestling gives the meet statewide exposure and places it among recognized girls wrestling events across Michigan. With strong participation, competitive brackets, and multiple programs represented on the podium, the tournament continues to grow in size and significance each season.
