Senior star running back who ran for over 1,000 yards last season, Karter Frens, and the rest of Fremont football return in 2025 with hopes of much more improvement from its 1-5 conference record a year ago. Fremont loses its lone all-conference honoree, Chance Crawford, due to graduation, as well as many key losses on the defensive side. However, the Packers will be able to rely on not only Frens, but junior quarterback Brayden Crosley, who started for them as a sophomore last season.

Crosley had a decent campaign for being just a sophomore in 2024, throwing for over 800 yards and nine total touchdowns. The Packers’ main attack is done in the run game; however, Frens ran for nearly 1,300 yards and crossed the goal line 13 times.
There’s very little doubt when making a statement such as: the offense will have far fewer question marks early and much more of an impact on the overall win column than the defense, with four offensive linemen who could be proven difference-makers by the end of the season. The Packers gave up well over 300 points last season, which marked the most by a Fremont team since 2019.
Unfortunately for them, many of their offensive playmakers will need to stay on the field on both sides of the ball due to the lack of depth. It can be done, though. In head coach Jared Hudson’s first season at the helm, he took the Packers to a 4-5 season, which hasn’t happened in the program since 2014.
By far the most intriguing part of this schedule is the four straight home games plopped in the middle of the season, all of which are winnable games. However, Fremont wasn’t very good at home last season; actually, they were winless, and the only wins came on the road at Orchard View and Grant.
The Packers open the season hosting Hopkins, with whom they scheduled a home-and-away series that began in 2024. Hopkins finished on the winning side of the contest, 34-20, and made the playoffs with a 6-3 record. As stated above, the win over Orchard View was the only WMC Lakes win Fremont had last season, and with the rising young talent the Cardinals offer, it sure won’t be as easy.
Needless to say, a playoff berth would be an extraordinary win for not just the program but for the town of Fremont as a whole, with the last berth coming in 2013 (excluding the Covid-19 2020 season). “Our program goal is to compete in the WMC and the MHSAA Playoffs,” Hudson stated.
