Whitehall and Hart will represent the West Michigan Conference at next weekend’s team wrestling state finals at Wings Event Center in Kalamazoo.
On Sunday, the Vikings and Pirates learned their opponents for the Division 3 quarterfinal round, set for 4:30 p.m. Friday (Feb. 23).
Whitehall (27-3) is the second seed and will square off with seventh-seeded Gladstone (18-1). At the same time, fifth-seeded Hart (26-6) tangles with fourth-seeded Constantine (25-2).
In the two other quarterfinal matches, top-seeded Dunee (15-5) — the six-time defending state champion in Division 3 — takes on eighth-seeded Lake Odessa Lakewood (24-6) while third-seeded Clinton (26-5) takes on sixth-seeded Yale (21-6).
The Division 3 semifinals are set for noon Saturday (Feb. 24). Semifinal matchups are determined after quarterfinals and they’re dependent on the seeds of the remaining teams.
The Division 3 finals are scheduled for 3:45 p.m. Saturday (Feb. 24).
Whitehall and Hart met earlier this season. The Vikings defeated the Pirates, 53-18, on Jan. 17 at Hart.
