2014 Mr. Basketball winner DeShaun Thrower visits CatchMark SportsNet Podcast

Former Muskegon Big Reds and Ferris State two-sport standout discusses his brand, experiences and goals.

DeShaun Thrower is still chasing his dream of playing professional basketball, but that’s not all that the 2014 Michigan Mr. Basketball winner has going on these days.

During his guest appearance on this week’s CatchMark SportsNet Podcast, sponsored by VanDyk Mortgage, Thrower discusses his recently released apparel line, D1Sportswear, and much more as co-hosts Scott DeCamp and Brent Raeth visit him in an hour-long discussion.

Thrower, 25, was a star senior guard on the 2013-14 Muskegon High School basketball team that went 28-0 and rolled to a Class A state championship. He also quarterbacked the Big Reds in football.

After transferring from Division I Stony Brook, where he signed to play basketball, Thrower helped Ferris State capture a Division II national title in the roundball sport as the Bulldogs amassed a 38-1 record. He also played football at Ferris for a squad that made it to the D-II national championship game.

These days, Thrower, 25, is offering basketball instruction for youth and promoting his line of apparel while awaiting opportunities to play professionally.
