Shelby’s Kendall Zoulek earns CatchMark Player of the Week accolade (Feb. 14-19)

Tiger guard ends senior season with 1000 career points

Kendall Zoulek has certainly lived up her well known “basketball” name that rings through the West Michigan Conference.

The senior’s tradition of success on the court was highlighted in the eyes of voters as she brings home the CatchMark Player of the Week fan poll for the Feb. 21-26.

Zoulek accumulated nearly 70% of the total, which was enough to pull away from Montague’s Tate Stine (16.6%) and Ravenna’s Dylan Gordon (13.4%).

The four-year Tigers starter made history this past week when she joined her mother and coach, Sarah Wolting in the 1000-point club. Kendall’s grandfather Rick also coaches the boys basketball team at Shelby.

During a rescheduled game on Shelby’s home court, the 5-foot-9 guard/forward reached the milestone and rounded out the competition with a team-high 16 points to go along with eight rebounds, two assists and one block. The Tigers ended their season this week with a first-round playoff loss to North Muskegon.
