Friday and Saturday were both very productive days for Whitehall track and field athletes.
In Friday’s 8th annual Kent City Elite Invitational, Whitehall senior Nate Bolley broke the meet record in long jump with a leap of 21 feet, 0.75 inches.
Bolley also was a member of the Vikings’ 4×100-meter relay team that established meet and school records with a time of 43.34 seconds. That quartet included juniors Trannon Aylor and Malcolm Earvin as well as senior Lukas Palmer. The previous school record in the 4×100 for Whitehall was a mark of 43.76 set in 1996.
On the girls side, Whitehall senior Maelie Hope broke Kent City Elite Invite records Friday in both the shot put (42-3.75) and discus (144-10).
On Saturday, Whitehall’s reigning 4×200 state championship relay team of Aylor, Earvin, Palmer and Bolley broke their own school record at the Grand Rapids Elite Challenge at Houseman Field with a time of 1:29.61. It placed the quartet in second behind the Zeeland West team that ran the 4×200 in 1:29.48. In winning last year’s 4×200 at the MHSAA Division 2 state finals, the Whitehall foursome ran a time of 1:29.73.
