Regional Volleyball Roundup: Fruitport, Fremont, and North Muskegon Earn Spots in Thursday’s Regional Finals

As tournament time intensifies, three area volleyball teams — Fruitport, Fremont, and North Muskegon — proved their strength and determination in Tuesday night’s regional semifinal matchups. Each squad displayed grit, teamwork, and championship-level energy to earn a place in Thursday’s regional finals.

Fruitport Fires on All Cylinders to Sweep Ionia

The Fruitport Trojans delivered one of their most complete performances of the season, sweeping a tough Ionia team in straight sets, 30-28, 25-16, 25-15, during the Division 2 Regional 10 semifinals at Fremont High School.

Senior Izabel Hanson-Wilbur led with 10 kills, seven aces, and 14 digs. Rowynn Miller added seven kills, while Porter Johnson anchored the defense with 21 digs and two aces. Regan Wilson contributed five aces and 12 digs, and Emma Fecher filled the stat sheet with 14 digs, 13 assists, and five kills.

Fruitport improved to 33-13-1 and will now face host Fremont (36-13) in the Division 2 Regional 10 Final at 7 p.m. on Thursday, November 13, at Fremont High School. The Trojans are aiming for their second consecutive regional championship, while the Packers seek their first-ever title.

Fremont Sweeps Reed City to Set Up Rematch

The Fremont Packers took care of business in their own semifinal, sweeping Reed City 25-21, 25-13, 25-23. The victory secures a thrilling rematch against Fruitport, a team Fremont narrowly lost to earlier this season (25-20, 28-26).

With both squads playing inspired volleyball, the Regional 10 Final at Fremont promises an electric atmosphere as the hometown Packers look to make history and the Trojans aim to defend their crown.

The Norse came from behind to win 19-25, 25-21, 25-27, 25-17, 15-12, displaying poise and balance across the board. The victory boosts North Muskegon’s record to 27-11 on the season and propels them into Thursday’s Regional 19 Final at White Cloud High School against Pewamo-Westphalia at 7 p.m.
