Bowling: Area programs punch tickets to the MHSAA Finals — and Whitehall makes history

There’s nothing quite like postseason bowling: one missed spare can flip a bracket, one long strike run can turn a “good day” into a banner day. That’s why we’re putting all these recaps in one place — to celebrate a massive week for local programs and give families, fans, and communities a clear snapshot of who’s headed to the MHSAA State Finals.

State Finals sites/dates:

  • Division 2: Century Bowl (Waterford) — Feb. 27–28, 2026

Whitehall: A Season for the Record Books

The Whitehall boys bowling team didn’t just put together a strong winter — they built one of the most memorable seasons in program history.

For the first time ever, the Vikings are Regional Champions, adding that historic milestone to a résumé that already included a breakthrough conference title and a dominant regular season.

State Championship hopes alive

Whitehall finished the regular season with an impressive 15-1 record, capturing the West Michigan Conference championship for the first time in school history. Competing against some of the largest schools in the league, the Vikings proved week after week that consistency, depth, and clutch performances travel well, especially when postseason pressure ramps up.

Regional Championship Performance

At the Division 3 regional tournament, Whitehall delivered a season-defining performance. The Vikings totaled 2,907 pins to claim the regional title and advance to the MHSAA Team State Finals.

The championship effort was fueled by timely Baker games and steady regular-game production. Whitehall outpaced a strong Kent City squad in key stretches, using strike strings at critical moments to create separation. The ability to stack strikes in Baker format where momentum can shift quickly proved to be a major advantage.

Individual State Qualifiers

Whitehall’s success extended beyond the team trophy.

In the individual regional competition, two Vikings punched their tickets to the state finals:

  • Adel Ali-Redha (2nd place) — 1,147 total pinfall
  • Mason Slaughter (5th place) — 1,104 total pinfall

Ali-Redha’s smooth, repeatable approach and ability to post big games under pressure made him one of the most consistent bowlers in the field. Slaughter, a veteran presence in the lineup, once again delivered when it mattered most, securing his state berth with a strong six-game series.

With both bowlers advancing, Whitehall will have representation in both the team and singles state finals, giving the Vikings multiple opportunities to extend their historic season.

The success wasn’t limited to the boys program.

On the girls side, Adelie Hoffmeyer qualified for the Division 3 Singles State Finals with an 884 pinfall total at regionals. As one of the younger competitors in the field, Hoffmeyer’s performance signals continued strength and growth for the Whitehall girls program.
