Another exciting week of local high school athletics delivered no shortage of standout performances across baseball, softball, and soccer. From dominant pitching outings and explosive offensive showings to a truly remarkable defensive effort in goal, several athletes rose above the rest with game-changing performances. These nominees represent the very best of the week, showcasing skill, resilience, and impact in leading their teams on the field.

Alayna Weiss – Oakridge Soccer
Alayna Weiss turned in an incredible effort in goal for Oakridge, making a remarkable 32 saves against NorthPointe Christian. Facing constant pressure all match long, Weiss showcased outstanding reflexes, positioning, and toughness while keeping the Eagles competitive. Even in a loss, her performance stood out as one of the most impressive individual defensive efforts of the week.

Maddux Kipling – Spring Lake Baseball
Maddux Kipling was dominant on the mound for Spring Lake, throwing a no-hitter with 15 strikeouts in a 4-0 win over Grant. He faced the minimum number of batters and controlled the game from start to finish, with the only two walks erased on the bases. Kipling’s overpowering outing was one of the top pitching performances of the week.

Natalie Rosel – Ravenna Softball
Natalie Rosel delivered a complete all-around performance for Ravenna in a 6-0 win over Jenison. In the circle, she threw a shutout while allowing six hits and striking out 15 batters, and she also contributed offensively with two hits at the plate. Rosel’s two-way impact helped lead Ravenna to a doubleheader sweep and made her a clear Player of the Week contender.
