Dane Rutz’ first-quarter catch wins CatchMark Play of the Week (Nov. 8 – 13)

Rutz receives 52.8% of votes to earn No. 1 spot in the poll

After the poll closed Friday afternoon, voters have determined that Dane Rutz’ jumping grab was CatchMark’s Play of the Week. This is Dane’s first Play of the Week nomination this season. The Muskegon Catholic Central stud made his return in Week 9 for a narrow win over Oakridge.

In the Division 7 regional final game Muskegon Catholic Central senior, Dane Rutz caught a 19-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Elliot Riegler in the first quarter. Rutz, who was hurt for most of the season, contributed to the Crusaders’ success down the stretch. The senior scored two TDs in Muskegon Catholic’s 41-22 loss to Lawton at historical Hackley field last Friday.

Rutz also plays basketball and runs track for MCC. He only had a few weeks to put his athletic ability on showcase. Therefore, he will look forward to completing full seasons during the remainder of his high school career.

The timely highlight received 52.8% of the total vote, landing him in the number one spot. Montague’s Tugg Nichols followed with a runner-up finish and 36.8% of the total vote.
