Hall of Fame Oakridge coach, senior leaders featured on Weekly Coaches Show

Eagles coach Cary Harger and seniors Matt Danicek and Gage Lowry chat with host Cody Kater.

Old rivals can get along after all.

When Cody Kater was playing and coaching for Montague, Oakridge was one of the Wildcats’ big rivals. Now that Kater is coaching for Reeths-Puffer, it’s time to let bygones be bygones.

Kater, the host of the VanDyk Mortgage West Michigan Conference Weekly Coaches Show, welcomed Oakridge coach Cary Harger and Eagles seniors Matt Danicek and Gage Lowry this week.

Harger, Oakridge’s 12th-year head coach, was inducted into the Michigan High School Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame last summer. This season, he has the Eagles off to a 4-0 start, including 2-0 in the WMC Lakes Division.

Oakridge hosts Fremont this Friday and welcomes Whitehall next week in a showdown sure to carry conference-title implications.

Danicek is a second-year starting quarterback for the Eagles. He also plays in the defensive secondary and handles punting duties. Lowry is the starting center, who adds depth along the defensive line as well.
