WHITEHALL – Despite an initial setback, the Orioles rallied impressively to secure the win. After dropping the first set 18-25, the team bounced back, winning the subsequent three sets with scores of 25-19, 25-22, and 25-16.
Whitehall was scrappy and tough in the first set. Leading that charge for the Vikings were seniors Bella Fogus, Brianna Bentz and Sidney Sheperd, who contributed heavily on both sides of the ball.
Jordyn Anderson was a key contributor, delivering a standout performance with 25 assists, 3 aces, and 4 blocks. Her ability to control the game was crucial in the Orioles’ success. Additionally, Anderson added 8 digs and 5 kills to her impressive stat line.
Middle hitter Madilyn Lynn also played a crucial role, delivering an impressive defensive performance with 8 blocks. Coach Liz Holden praised Lynn’s defensive prowess, noting, “She had quite a few blocks like back-to-back,”
Jaelyn Laird further bolstered the Orioles’ performance with a standout display of both offensive and defensive skills. She notched 12 kills, 5 digs, and 3 blocks.
Ludington was not without challenge though, the struggled, especially in the passing game. Where when asked about where they can improve, Coach Holden said, “Our passing, definitely our passing and communication.”
Going into the remainder of the season, Holden said, “I think it will give them a little bit of a confidence boost, that they need right now and they’ll see that they have what it takes to go as far as we did last year…”
