Montague-Whitehall rivalry goes Madden! Don’t miss the 2022 ‘Battle for the Mini Bell’

WHITEHALL — The big game is still three days away.

Montague visits Whitehall Friday in the annual “Battle for the Bell” rivalry football game. Kickoff is 7 p.m. and the showdown will be livestreamed for free by CatchMark SportsNet as the North Grove Brewers West Michigan Conference Game of the Week.

We didn’t to wait quite so long to have some fun with the rivalry, so thought outside the box a little bit. We invited five players from each of Montague’s and Whitehall’s football teams to the CatchMark office on Saturday for a friendly Madden Tournament. We called it, “Battle for the Mini Bell.”

Whitehall brought five players, while Montague brought only three. Regardless, the CatchMark crew set up three games of Madden 23 pitting one Montague player vs. one Whitehall player each time.

There might have been a surprise or two. Definitely, there was some playful banter.

All parties appeared to thoroughly enjoy themselves, which was the whole point: Having fun and making memories.
