Montague boys soccer team blanks Oakridge in West Michigan Conference action

Montague’s boys soccer team secured a decisive 3-0 victory against Oakridge in a West Michigan Conference match Monday night at Jack Schugars Field.

The host Eagles struggled against the proficient Wildcats, who dominated from start to finish.

Opening Goal:

Chris Aebig scored the first goal for the Wildcats with 26:45 left in the first half, setting a positive tone for his team and changing the dynamic of the match.

Increasing the Lead:

Andy Hernandez, with his exceptional skills, added another goal in the second half, further solidifying the Wildcats’ lead. Hernandez, a leading scorer for the team, has accumulated 14 goals this season, demonstrating his consistent performance.

Aebig’s Second:

Aebig didn’t stop at one and netted his second goal of the match with just 9:10 remaining, ensuring the Wildcats’ firm hold on the game.

Strong Defense:

Goalkeeper Eli Bunton’s superb skills were integral in preventing any scoring opportunities for the Eagles. With six shutouts this season, Bunton continued to reinforce the Wildcats’ defensive strength.

With the win, Montague’s record moves to 8-6-0 overall and 4-3-0 in league play. Oakridge falls 7-6-1 on the season and 4-3-1 in league.

Montague will face Fremont at home on Wednesday. Oakridge will be on the road against Whitehall.
