Montague’s girls soccer opener vs. Fremont picked as CSN Competition of the Week

Future West Michigan Conference foes will be livestreamed for free in Wednesday’s 5 p.m. matchup.

Montague’s girls soccer team finished a very respectable 12-5 last season, including 5-2 in the West Michigan Conference.

The Wildcats’ league losses came against eventual Division 4 state champion North Muskegon and neighboring rival Whitehall.

Montague is looking to make more strides this season, and that begins with Wednesday’s 5 p.m. season opener against future conference opponent Fremont. The Montague-Fremont match has been selected as the CatchMark SportsNet Competition of the Week for March 28-April 2.

Fremont finished 4-11-2 last season, and the Packers are off to a 1-1 start this spring with a 2-1 loss to Muskegon Catholic Central and 8-1 victory over Hart.

Fremont, which competes in the Central State Activities Association Gold Division, is joining the West Michigan Conference beginning next school year. The Packers will be divisional foes of the Wildcats.

In addition to the match being covered by CSN as Competition of the Week, the Montague-Fremont contest will be livestreamed for free on the CatchMark SportsNet YouTube channel. If you like the content on that channel, then please subscribe.
