North Muskegon slugger wins CatchMark SportsNet Player of Week (April 15-20, 2024)

Norse senior Rylee Cooper, the No. 5 hitter in the lineup, hit two of her four home runs last week.

Rylee Cooper has flexed some home run power this season for North Muskegon’s softball team.

Her winning the CatchMark SportsNet West Michigan Conference Player of the Week fan poll is also a pretty good flex.

Cooper finished first in this week’s fan poll, which recognized six spring sports athletes from the conference for their performances April 15-20, 2024. She finished with 740 of 2,361 total votes in the poll. Orchard View baseball player Zach Peterson was runner-up in the poll with 572 votes.

CatchMark SportsNet WMC Player of the Week is title-sponsored by Complete Restoration & Cleaning Services, Inc.

Cooper showed off her home run power in a WMC nondivisional doubleheader split with visiting Fremont last Thursday. The senior first baseman and No. 5 hitter in North Muskegon’s lineup homered in a 5-4 loss in Game 1 and she went deep twice in a 13-10 victory in Game 2. Earlier in the week, in an 18-0 Game 1 win over Mason County Central during a WMC Rivers road sweep, Cooper walked three times and scored two runs.

On the season, Cooper is hitting .321 with four home runs. North Muskegon is 8-3 overall and 4-1 in the WMC Rivers Division.
