Time for another CatchMark SportsNet West Michigan Conference Player of the Week fan poll.

Nominees have been selected and the fan poll created for Player of the Week, which is title sponsored by Complete Restoration & Cleaning Services, Inc.

We need your votes.

Six spring sports athletes from the conference who stood out in competitions April 22-27, 2024, have been nominated by CatchMark SportsNet. Student-athletes who have already won Player of the Week honors this season are not eligible to be in the fan poll.

Time for you to vote, over and over. The poll can be found at the bottom of this story after brief capsules on the nominees. You may vote once per hour. The poll closes at noon Friday, May 3.

EMMY CREED, North Muskegon girls soccer

The sophomore forward netted a hat trick and added an assist in North Muskegon’s 6-1 victory over visiting Whitehall in a West Michigan Conference home match last Wednesday. Entering this week, Creed has totaled 12 goals and three assists on the season. The Division 4 top-ranked Norse are busy this week, visiting Oakridge Monday night, hosting Ravenna on Thursday, and welcoming third-ranked Royal Oak Shrine Catholic on Saturday.

ABBIE FOWLER, Holton softball

Holton swept visiting Merrill in nonleague action last Friday and this senior shortstop and leadoff batter had a big day at the plate. In a 12-9 win in Game 1, Fowler went 3-for-5 with a double and triple. In a 7-3 victory in Game 2, she went 2-for-3 with a triple. In last Monday’s 13-3 loss at Reeths-Puffer in Game 2 of a nonleague doubleheader, Fowler was 2-for-3. In last Wednesday’s 11-5 loss in Game 1 and 6-6 tie in Game 2 vs. Mona Shores, she went 2-for-4 with a double in each game.

KAELINN JOZSA, Oakridge softball

The Eagles’ senior leadoff batter had a big week at the plate last week, going a combined 10-for-16 with five extra-base hits in four games. In a 14-1 win over visiting Fremont in Game 1 of Tuesday’s doubleheader, Jozsa went 3-for-4 with a home run, three RBIs, and two runs. In a 14-3 win in Game 2 vs. Fremont, she went 2-for-3 with a homer. In Thursday’s two, tough nonleague home losses to Reeths-Puffer (6-5 and 14-13), Jozsa went 3-for-4 with a double and homer in Game 1 and 2-for-5 with a homer and four RBIs in Game 2.

BROCK MORNINGSTAR, Whitehall baseball

The Vikings junior enjoyed a productive week from the No. 3 spot in the lineup. In last Tuesday’s WMC Lakes sweep of hosting rival Montague (11-0 and 10-1), Morningstar went 1-for-2 with two runs and an RBI in Game 1 and he had three RBIs and two runs plus picked up the pitching win in Game 2. In Thursday’s nonleague split at Western Michigan Christian, he went 2-for-5 with two RBIs and two runs in a 12-8 loss in Game 1. In Whitehall’s impressive 9-3 win over Spring Lake Saturday at the Traverse City West Invite, Morningstar was 2-for-4 with two doubles, three RBIs, and two runs scored.

DANIEL ROMERO, Fremont track and field

This is the second straight week for Romero in the Player of the Week fan poll. The Packers senior tore it up during the Kent City Elite Invite last Friday. In the 110-meter hurdles, Romero broke his own recently set school record with a time of 14.87 seconds, bettering his previous personal-record time of 14.96. A little later at the meet, Romero ran a record time of 39.96 in the 300 hurdles to break Ben Wolfsen’s school-record clocking of 40.04 set in 1993.

BLAKE WEIRICH, Hart baseball

The senior had a big week for the Pirates on the mound and at the plate. In Tuesday’s WMC Rivers split with rival Shelby, Weirich tossed a two-hitter with 14 strikeouts and two walks in a 7-1 win in Game 1. In Thursday’s 8-7 walk-off, nonleague win over Kent City, Weirich delivered the winning hit in the bottom of the seventh to score Halen Boos. Weirich finished the game 3-for-5 with two runs and a stolen base.
