Another exciting week of spring sports brought standout performances across the area in baseball, softball, and soccer. From dominant pitching performances and clutch offensive outings to incredible postseason efforts on the soccer field, several athletes stepped up in a big way for their teams. This week’s Player of the Week nominees are Ravenna baseball standout Zeke Erler, Fremont softball slugger Gracie Clark, and Mona Shores goalkeeper Amelia Duff.

Zeke Erler — Ravenna Baseball

Zeke Erler played a huge role in helping Ravenna baseball capture a share of its first conference championship since 1996. Erler dominated on the mound in a 13-0 win over Hart, allowing just one hit while striking out nine batters. He also contributed at the plate during Ravenna’s doubleheader sweep as the Bulldogs piled up 19 hits and improved to 26-5 on the season.

Gracie Clark — Fremont Softball

Gracie Clark powered the Fremont softball team with an outstanding week at the plate. In a doubleheader sweep over Reed City, Clark collected three hits and drove in four runs in Game 1, then added a triple during Fremont’s comeback victory in Game 2 after the Packers erased a 7-0 deficit. Clark continued her strong stretch against Kent City, delivering two doubles, five RBI, and multiple runs scored in another big offensive performance.

Amelia Duff — Mona Shores Girls Soccer

Amelia Duff turned in one of the top goalkeeper performances of the week for Mona Shores in a Division 1 district matchup against Hudsonville. Duff recorded 11 saves and kept the Sailors within striking distance throughout the contest before Hudsonville finally broke through late in the second half for the game’s lone goal. Her effort helped Mona Shores battle one of the area’s toughest opponents in a tightly contested postseason match.
