Junior Brock Morningstar has been valuable for the red-hot Vikings at the plate and from the mound.

Whitehall’s baseball team has been heating up the last couple weeks. The Vikings have won nine of their last 11 games entering Saturday’s Greater Muskegon Athletic Association tournament.

Similarly, Whitehall baseball standout Brock Morningstar was on fire in the CatchMark SportsNet West Michigan Conference Player of the Week fan poll this week.

Morningstar, a versatile junior for the Vikings, won the Player of the Week poll with 2,895 of 5,595 total votes. North Muskegon soccer standout Emmy Creed was runner-up with 1,900 votes in this week’s poll, which recognized six spring sports athletes from the conference for their performances April 22-27, 2024.

In last Tuesday’s WMC Lakes Division sweep of hosting rival Montague (11-0 and 10-1), Morningstar went 1-for-2 with two runs and an RBI in Game 1 and he had three RBIs and two runs plus picked up the pitching win in Game 2.

In last Thursday’s nonleague split at Western Michigan Christian, Morningstar went 2-for-5 with two RBIs and two runs in a 12-8 loss in Game 1.

In Whitehall’s impressive 9-3 win over Spring Lake Saturday at the Traverse City West Invite, Morningstar was 2-for-4 with two doubles, three RBIs, and two runs scored.
