Time for another CatchMark SportsNet West Michigan Conference Player of the Week fan poll.
This will be the final one of the 2023-24 sports year.
Nominees have been selected and the fan poll created for Player of the Week, which is title sponsored by Complete Restoration & Cleaning Services, Inc.
We need your votes.
Four spring sports athletes from the conference who stood out in competitions June 3-10, 2024, have been nominated by CatchMark SportsNet. Student-athletes who have already won Player of the Week honors this season are not eligible to be in the fan poll.
Time for you to vote, over and over. The poll can be found at the bottom of this story after brief capsules on the nominees. You may vote once per hour. The poll closes at noon Friday, June 14.
Athletes are listed alphabetically:
ABBIE FOWLER, Holton softball
The leadoff hitter and starting shortstop helped set the tone in Holton’s 7-2 victory over Bellaire today (June 10) in a Division 4 regional semifinal at Frankfort. Fowler finished 2-for-4 with an RBI. The fleet-footed senior also recorded a pair of stolen bases in helping the Red Devils advance to the regional final.
RILEY HOMOLY, Ravenna softball
The sophomore had a big day at the plate Saturday in helping Ravenna capture a second straight Division 3 regional title with 5-3 and 7-5 wins over Kalamazoo Christian and Grandville Calvin Christian, respectively, at Coloma. In the semifinal, Homoly went 3-for-3 at the plate with a home run and she drove in four of the five runs. In the final, she went 1-for-3 with a double and a run scored.
KELCEY OSBORNE, Oakridge softball
The freshman did the job in the pitcher’s circle and at the plate in Oakridge’s 13-4 victory over Grand Rapids Catholic Central in a Division 2 regional semifinal Saturday at Fremont. The right-hander allowed three earned runs on six hits with eight strikeouts and two walks in seven innings of work. At the plate, Osborne went 2-for-2 with two RBIs and three runs scored. Oakridge led Allendale 9-4 in the second inning of the final when the game was postponed because of rain. It is being resumed today (June 10).
GABBY QUIJAS, Hart softball
The senior right-hander picked a good time to fire a no-hitter. Quijas pitched a gem in Hart’s 11-0, six-inning Division 3 regional semifinal win over LeRoy Pine River Saturday at Kingsley. She had only one strikeout and one walk, putting her defense to work, and her defense rose to the challenge. The victory avenged a pair of home losses to Pine River 10 days earlier. Hart fell to Evart in the regional final, 9-3.
