BYRON CENTER — Oakridge’s and Ravenna’s softball teams are very competitive. They always want to win.

They also want to continue getting better. That’s why the Eagles and Bulldogs jumped at the opportunity to play in the Blue Chip Best of Michigan showcase Saturday (May 20, 2023) at Whistle Stop Park.

In an event showcasing some of the top high school softball programs in Michigan, Oakridge and Ravenna each played three games in different pools.

Division 2 Oakridge lost a tight first game to Division 2 Dearborn Divine Child (4-3) before the Eagles fell to Division 3 Shepherd (9-3) and Division 2 top-ranked Gaylord (11-0 in five innings).

Oakridge, which is now 23-9 on the season, will try to wrap up the West Michigan Conference Lakes Division title when it visits Montague on Tuesday (May 23). The first of two games between Oakridge and Montague will be livestreamed as part of CatchMark SportsNet’s WMC Game of the Week.
