A season that started with much hope ran out of gas quickly. After a (4-2) start, Ravenna drops its next three and misses playoffs.
The Bulldogs finished 35th in terms of playoff points in its division which results in the second straight season they will miss the playoffs. Given the previous four season between 2019 and 2022 they accumulated 26 wins and advanced in each of those years, Ravenna quietly was looked at as a contender for the West Michigan Conference.
The story this season was the offense. Specifically, the last three weeks when they could only come up with one touchdown. During many games this season the offense would stall out and be forced to punt it away which would lead to pressure on the defensive guys.
Taking the starting quarterback job, this season was Dylan May. The 6-foot-5 QB gave Ravenna plenty of versatility in the playbook with the ability to throw the ball or tuck in down run it.
The Bulldogs put in emphasis on working through its big men in the trenches.
In their first conference game of the season, they went head-to-head with Hart. They showed plenty of flashes on both, offense and defense. The rushing attack for Ravenna showed versatility and was a huge part of its success on the way to a 29-6 win.
Ravenna finishes the season (4-5, 4-2) and in 3rd place in the WMC Rivers division.
