Ravenna girls, Oakridge boys claim 2024 Greater Muskegon bowling titles

MUSKEGON — Ravenna’s girls bowling team rolled to West Michigan Conference tournament and overall titles this season. The Bulldogs hope to keep the positive momentum going with the MHSAA state tourney around the corner in their home house, Northway Lanes.

Oakridge’s boys bowling team came up just short in the overall WMC race, but the Eagles did win the conference tournament championship.

Ravenna’s girls and Oakridge’s boys claimed even more hardware Wednesday afternoon as Greater Muskegon Athletic Association tourney champions at Northway Lanes.

Whitehall’s Ava Garcia and Mona Shores’ Skylor Bosch captured individual GMAA titles for girls and boys, respectively.

In the girls competition, Reeths-Puffer edged Ravenna in pinfall during preliminary competition, 1813-1793. In Baker-format bracket play, Ravenna defeated Orchard View (346-247) and Oakridge beat R-P (298-265) in the semifinals before the Bulldogs rallied past the Eagles in the finals (310-296).

Ravenna’s girls will be competing in next week’s Division 4 regional at Northway Lanes along with Holton and other schools. The Division 4 state finals are set for March 1-2 at Northway Lanes as well.

In the boys competition, Oakridge was No. 1 in pinfall in preliminary competition at 2221, while Fruitport was second at 2159. In Baker-format bracket play, Oakridge edged Fruitport (399-397) and Mona Shores beat Orchard View (395-333) in the semifinals before the Eagles dominated the Sailors in the finals (380-291).

The Oakridge boys will be competing in next week’s Division 3 regional at Sherman Bowling Center along with Fremont, Mason County Central, Montague, Orchard View, Whitehall, and other schools. The Division 3 state finals are scheduled for March 1-2 at Jax 60 in Jackson.
