Muskegon Township – On Friday night, before a roaring homecoming crowd, the Reeths-Puffer Rockets put on a dominant performance with a commanding 48-13 victory over the Union Red Hawks. Led by big plays the Rockets totalled 441 yards in only 25 plays on the night and improved their record to 2-2 on the season, 1-0 in the OK-Green Conference.
Reeths-Puffer took control early, marching down the field on their opening drive. Junior quarterback Mason Darke launched a deep 85-yard touchdown pass to fellow junior Marvin Moore. Moments later, Bryce Muskovin exploded for an 82-yard run, the first of his four touchdowns that night, and added a 42-yard touchdown run on the following possession.
The Rocket defense continued to stop the Red Hawks throughout the second quarter and the Reeths-Puffer offense delivered two more touchdowns. Muskovin scored on a 25-yard pass from Darke, and Moore closed out the half with a dazzling 49-yard touchdown run.
After a commanding first half, Reeth-Puffer showed no signs of slowing down in the second. Muskovin started the third quarter scoring with a 5-yard run putting the Rockets up 41-0. The Red Hawks connected for a 24-yard touchdown pass to put them on the board. On the next possession, Muskovin got loose for an 80-yard touchdown run, marking the final play for the starting offense. Reeths-Puffer was able to get their second-string players into the game gaining them experience for the fourth quarter. Union added a 1-yard rushing touchdown late in the game.

Reeths-Puffer’s defensive unit deserves special recognition for their dominant performance. They put relentless pressure on Union’s quarterback, leading to multiple turnovers and holding the Red Hawks to 197 yards on the night. Senior Elliot Schneider led the defense with 6 tackles and 5 assists. Fellow Senior Sage Secrest recorded 4 tackles and two assists. After the game, Senior Benjamin Adams shared that the victory in part goes to the preparation during the week by the players and coaches. “We came together as a team and really just shut everything out, focused on football for a week and it turned out great.”
“We are continuing to try and build on those things that we define as weaknesses, but we’re also starting to identify strengths for our squad. Through that identification, we have found an identity offensively” explained Coach Kater following the game. “We saw some special plays by Bryce Muskovin because of the O-line, because the wide receivers blocked downfield tonight. We also saw a lot of special plays with Marvin Moore all over the place.”
This decisive victory keeps Reeths-Puffer on an upward trajectory, improving their record and building momentum for next week as they travel to Forest Hills Northern for an OK-Green matchup. The Huskies are 2-2 on the season and 0-1 in conference play.
