The Reeths-Puffer Varsity Volleyball team kicked off their “Come Back Season” at the Whitehall Invitational today, showing they are ready to make a statement this year. With a 2-2 record, the Rockets are laying the groundwork for a season defined by resilience and determination.
The team started strong with two commanding victories against Reed City and Newaygo, winning both matches 2-0. However, the Rockets faced tougher competition later in the day, falling to Kenowa Hills and Whitehall in hard-fought battles. Despite the setbacks, Reeths-Puffer’s performance was a showcase of skill and teamwork.
Leaders on the court were at the forefront of this effort. Setter Grace Darke was a powerhouse, racking up 56 assists, 22 digs, and 7 aces, driving the team’s offense with precision. Middle Hitter Makayla Disselkoen made her presence known at the net with 17 kills, 3 digs, and 1 block. Outside Hitters Mady Snyder and Alissa Klopp were also instrumental, with Snyder contributing 13 kills, 18 digs, 2 blocks, and 13 aces, and Klopp adding 20 kills, 6 digs, and 3 blocks.
This year, the Rockets are embracing the C.H.O.P. initiative—focusing on Community, Honor, Ownership, and Perseverance. These values were evident on the court today as the team fought through every set with determination and a commitment to excellence.
As the season progresses, Reeths-Puffer is ready to continue building on this strong start. Their next challenge is a home quad on Wednesday, August 28th, where they’ll look to take what they’ve learned and push forward with even greater intensity.
