It was a banner day for Fremont’s wrestling team in the John Baum Invitational Saturday at Belding, capping a big week for the program.

Speaking of banners, Packers senior Tee Ward collected a memorable one in earning his 150th career victory in helping his team capturing the tournament title

“An impressive feat so early into his senior season,” said Fremont coach Jacob Moreen, whose team went 5-0 Saturday.

The Packers beat Central Montcalm in the first-place bout (48-30). In pool play, they knocked off Hanover-Horton (53-30), Lowell’s “C” team (41-39), Belding’s “B” team (65-19), and Culver City, Ind. (52-27).

Ward, Trey Myers, Killian Prewitt, Ian Sholty, and Beckett Newell all finished with 5-0 records on the day for Fremont. Adam Rich and Chase Montague each finished with 4-1 records for the Packers.

Last Wednesday, Prewitt reached the 100-win milestone for his career.
