Five Muskegon-area high school football teams finished in the top 10 of their respective division’s state rankings in The Associated Press’ final polls of the 2021 season.
The highest-ranked team from the area is Muskegon (8-1), which comes in at No. 4 in Division 3. Mona Shores (7-2) and Muskegon Catholic Central (8-1) are No. 6 in Divisions 2 and 7, respectively.
Whitehall (7-2) and Oakridge (7-2), which shared the West Michigan Conference title with Montague (6-3), finish No. 9 and No. 10 in Divisions 4 and 5, respectively.
Speaking of Montague, the Wildcats slipped out of the rankings after being in there throughout the season.
