Two from West Michigan Conference, 5 from Muskegon area make final AP football polls

Five Muskegon-area high school football teams finished in the top 10 of their respective division’s state rankings in The Associated Press’ final polls of the 2021 season.

The highest-ranked team from the area is Muskegon (8-1), which comes in at No. 4 in Division 3. Mona Shores (7-2) and Muskegon Catholic Central (8-1) are No. 6 in Divisions 2 and 7, respectively.

Whitehall (7-2) and Oakridge (7-2), which shared the West Michigan Conference title with Montague (6-3), finish No. 9 and No. 10 in Divisions 4 and 5, respectively.

Speaking of Montague, the Wildcats slipped out of the rankings after being in there throughout the season.

Here are the AP polls for Oct. 25, 2021. Next to the schools’ names are first-place votes and team records in parentheses, followed by total number of points in the polls.
