The high school volleyball postseason is here, but for Montague it looks a lot like the West Michigan Conference Lakes Division schedule.
Montague defeated WMC Lakes foe Oakridge, 25-22, 25-20, 25-14, in a Division 2 first-round district match Tuesday at Fruitport. Next up for the Wildcats (23-24-1) is a district semifinal match against WMC Lakes opponent Orchard View at 5 p.m. Thursday at Fruitport.
In another first-round district match Tuesday night, host Fruitport beat rival Spring Lake, 25-22, 25-19, 19-25, 25-20. The Trojans will host Whitehall in a district semifinal at 7 p.m. Thursday.
Tuesday marked the fourth time Montague defeated Oakridge this season in as many tries.
Anastasia Trevino paced Montague with 10 kills and three blocks. Laura Borras had eight kills, nine digs, three aces and one block. Alissa Wynn added 20 digs, four aces and three assists, while Jaelyn Sundberg notched 22 assists, 10 digs, three kills and one block. Jacy Arrigotti and Jordan Netcott totaled 10 digs apiece, while Britta Johnson had four kills, two digs and one block and Maizie Collins four digs.
No stats were submitted by Oakridge.
