One West Michigan Conference volleyball team remains in the MHSAA state tournament and it’s the Shelby Tigers.
The WMC Rivers Division champions swept a tough Kent City squad, 29-27, 25-23, 25-17, in a Division 3 regional semifinal Tuesday at Holton High School.
Shelby (33-8-2) advances to Thursday’s 6 p.m. regional final at Holton against Grand Rapids NorthPointe Christian, which defeated North Muskegon in four sets.
Navea Gauthier led Shelby with 40 kills, 25 digs and two blocks. Audrey Horton recorded 50 assists and she was celebrated after the match for reaching 1,000 assists in her career. Morgan Weirich tallied 33 digs, while Gladys Moncada Pineda had 18 service points (two aces) and Biloxi Lee 15 service points (one ace).
NORTH MUSKEGON FALLS TO NORTHPOINTE: North Muskegon coach Kammi Eacker said the Norse fought hard, but they just couldn’t fully execute their game plan against a tough NorthPointe Christian squad in a Division 3 regional semifinal Tuesday night at Holton.
North Muskegon fell to NorthPointe Christian, 25-19, 21-25, 25-17, 25-22. The Norse finish their season with a 23-14-4 overall record.

Natalie Pannucci paced North Muskegon with 17 kills, 18 digs and four blocks. Allie Jensen had nine kills and 18 digs for the Norse, while Joslynne Bogner totaled nine kills and four blocks. Fia Lindsay contributed seven kills and seven blocks. Sami Baker notched 45 assists, 19 digs and three aces. Jaley Schultz had 22 digs.
FRUITPORT DEFEATS FREMONT: Fremont took the first set against Fruitport, 27-25, but lost the next three, 25-22, 25-21, 25-22, in a Division 2 regional semifinal Tuesday at Comstock Park.
The Packers close the season with a 31-25-3 overall record.

Sadie Haase led Fruitport with 19 kills and four digs, while Auebre Johnson had nine kills and three digs. Gracelynn Olson totaled 38 assists, six digs and three aces for the Trojans, while Lauren Riedel notched 21 digs. Kayla Kolberg and Kendal Kolberg added 20 and 16 digs, respectively.
Stats were not submitted by Fremont.
