Here are descriptions of the three nominated plays to offer context:
Play 1: On his last carry of the night, facing fourth-and-1 from the Reed City 23, Montague senior running back Dylan Everett showed some nifty moves on the way to the end zone for a TD that put the game away with 44.3 seconds remaining. Montague went on to win its fifth consecutive district title, 35-22. Everett ran for 197 yards and two touchdowns on 29 carries.
Play 2: In Whitehall volleyball’s district championship against Fruitport, senior outside hitter Charley Klint slams down a kill to give the Vikings the momentum to finish out game 3 and complete the sweep over the Trojans. Klint finished with 6 kills and has been an offensive power for Whitehall all season.
Play 3: Abby Vander Kooi of Western Michigan Christian cross country has won every state championship race she has competed in. Vander Kooi captured her fourth individual title in four tries, and led Western Michigan Christian (98 points) to the Division 4 state championship by running a first-place time of 18:06.58.
