Here are descriptions of the three nominated plays to offer context:

Play 1: Tugg Nichols of the Montague football team scores a 26-yard touchdown pass for the go-ahead score against Ravenna last Friday at Townsend Athletic Complex. It served as the winning TD as the Wildcats closed out a 14-7 win to remain the frontrunner in the West Michigan Conference.

Play 2: Whitehall soccer’s Jack Houtteman scored the final goal for the Vikings from a throw-in by teammate Kyren Bluhm in a 3-0 shutout of Oakridge on the Vikings’ home turf last Wednesday evening in conference action.

Play 3: Montague powerlifter Owen Powers leads the way at the Great Lakes Strongman competition with an overhead log press of 205 pounds. Powers also competed in other events at the competition, including the wagon wheel at 550 pounds (four times), the farmer’s hold at 250 pounds (in each hand), the sandbag at 220 pounds and the power stairs at 350 pounds.
