In the heart of Holton, where the autumn leaves paint the town in fiery hues, the Red Devils are preparing for a season of resurgence. Last year’s winless campaign, a stark 0-6 in the league and 0-9 overall, has ignited a burning desire for redemption. This year, the Red Devils are determined to erase the memory of those losses and prove that they are a force to be reckoned with. Under Coach Tommy Moore, the Devils’ are locked and loaded for game one.
This year, they will be returning much of the starting lineup. Most of which were sophomore’s and freshman. Who now will have more experience under their belts. There has also been more buy in this year. The team is ready to get going and put the two winless seasons behind them.
Key Players to Watch:
Rylee Pierce, Senior, QB/DB: Year number three for the senior QB. He will need to be ready to fully lead this team to a winning record. He will have to be the vet on the starting lineup. As well as teammate David Addison, he will need to make big plays on the defensive end. Allowing for their experienced offense to maintain potency and efficiency.
Seth Erickson, Senior, OL: Anchoring the offensive line, the Red Devils return a force to be reckoned with. Last season, this behemoth in the trenches earned all-conference honors for his dominant play at guard. Now, with an experienced quarterback stepping under center, his role becomes even more crucial. His experience and strength will be paramount in providing the time and protection needed for the signal-caller to find his rhythm and make plays. The Red Devils will be leaning heavily on their all-conference guard to continue his streak of excellence and pave the way for a resurgent season.
David Addison, Junior, RB/DB: The junior, will become the centerpiece of Holton’s ground attack. He will have to use his explosiveness and vision to find holes in the defense and exploit them. However, his responsibilities won’t end there. On the defensive side of the ball, he’ll be expected to utilize his speed and instincts to disrupt passing lanes and create turnovers, acting as a true ball hawk in the secondary. The Red Devils are counting on this two-way player to deliver game-changing performances on both sides of the ball, injecting a much-needed spark into their quest for redemption.
