As we get nearer to August 29th, and the season begins to ramp up, the Hesperia Panthers are out hunting. Ready to pounce on their week one victim. Leading the charge is Tyler Fehler, now in his second year as head coach, determined to turn things around after last year’s 2-7 record and a disappointing 1-5 in league play.
The Panthers will have a solid core, returning much of the starting lineup on both sides of the ball. Senior quarterback Blake Sayer and all-conference running back Skyler Stalbaum are ready to lead the offense, bringing some much needed experience to the field.
Two more key players, Ian Fox and Eli Edens, will be returning to anchor the defense, bringing experience to the field. As the backbone of the defensive unit, their performance will be crucial in setting the tone for the entire team. Their ability to make significant plays and shut down the opposition will be vital to the Panthers’ success.
Key Players to Watch:
Blake Sayer, Senior, QB/LB: The senior QB will need to be looking to create explosive plays for the Panthers’. He has the talent in the WR position to do so. On the defensive end, the LB will need shut down plays and get crucial stops. Hesperia Football will look to him as the leader, guiding this team to a successful 2024 outing.
Ian Fox, Senior, WR/DB: Fox will have a quality QB back in the pocket. It will be crucial that he maintains his consistency and reliability, as he will most likely be the number one target for Sayer this year. Defensibly, he will need to stop up gaps and look for sacks. He will be a leader from the DB position and the Panthers’ will need him to be.
Skyler Salbaum, Senior, RB/LB: The ground game for the Panthers’. They will need him to open up the field for them. As a 1000 plus yard rushing threat, they will need him to find a hole and punch through it. Giving them great opportunities to drop the ball off to quality receivers, Ian Fox and Eli Edens.
The Panthers’ will face a week one Farewell at home (August 29th, 2024).
This is a young team. With the struggles of last year behind them. They are ready to get out there and make some waves. They return much of their starting lineup on both sides of the ball and they are coming into this season with vengeance after taking last in the league this past year.
