West Michigan Conference Football Preview 2025: Oakridge Eagles Season Outlook

Eagle football returns in 2025 under new leadership, with defensive coordinator Tim Parker taking over head coaching duties after legendary Oakridge coach Cary Harger announced his retirement. Oakridge had somewhat of an underwhelming season a year ago, finishing with just four wins. However, in the district round of the playoffs, they gave Division Five powerhouse West Catholic a run for its money in the first three quarters of the game. Heading into 2025, there are many encouraging signs of improvement with over half the team returning.

Coaching Staff

HC – Tim Parker (1st season)
OC – David Huck
DC – Tim Parker

Key Returners

Logen Huston
Jayden Dailey
Dylan Cunningham
Brett Kroll
Preston Six
Jordan Guerrero-McGrady

Quarterback Logen Huston returns for his senior season with one year of varsity experience in his back pocket. Huston led the Eagles to a pair of blowout wins over WMC Lake opponents, Manistee and Fremont.

Jayden Dailey and Jordan Guerrero-McGrady will take most of the workload from the backfield in 2025. Oakridge is known around West Michigan as a run-heavy offense, and with these two plus returning all-conference offensive linemen Dylan Cunningham and Brett Kroll, OC David Huck should be able to have fun with this offense.

Linebacker and captain of the defense, Preston Six, returns as part of a revamped defensive unit with many question marks surrounding the secondary and the trenches. Though with as much experience as the newly minted head coach Parker has had with roster turnover through the years, it leaves no doubt that the Eagles may be able to have a complete team in 2025.

2025 Schedule

Aug. 28th – Orchard View
Sept. 5th – Montague
Sept. 12th – Manistee
Sept. 19th – @ Ludington
Sept. 26th – @ Fremont
Oct. 3rd – @ Whitehall
Oct. 10th – Belding
Oct. 17th – @ Ravenna
Oct. 24th – North Muskegon

Oakridge opens the campaign with three straight games on its home turf against Orchard View, Montague, and Manistee, all of which are very winnable games. Montague in week two will be the toughest out of the three, with a lot of returning talent. The following three will be on the road against Ludington, Fremont, and Whitehall. Ludington, a frontrunner for the conference this season, and Whitehall, which won the last three conference titles, will prove to be the toughest stretch of games for the Eagles this season. The homestretch includes home games against Belding and North Muskegon, and a road game with longtime rival Ravenna.

“This season is all about building on last year’s performance. We’re focused on continuing the Oakridge tradition of success,” Parker stated. “We return with valuable experience and a strong group of juniors who will help keep us competitive. The key for us will be consistent improvement and staying healthy throughout the season.”
