Delaney Young leads balanced North Muskegon to solid road win over Newaygo.

Only one girls basketball game involving West Michigan Conference teams took place Tuesday night.

Below are details from the contest that took place on Jan. 16, 2024.

NONLEAGUE

NORTH MUSKEGON 54, NEWAYGO 43: North Muskegon used a balanced effort to record a solid nonleague road victory. Delaney Young led the scoring effort for the Norse, who got contributions from several players. Beyond the top three scorers, the next four recorded between four and seven points.

“What a fun, physical game,” Norse coach Jill Young said. “We are thankful to have the opportunity to play a team with a tradition like Newaygo.”

North Muskegon leaders:

Delaney Young 20 points

Emma Buchmiller 9 points, 3 assists

Emma Lamiman 8 points, 8 rebounds

Newaygo leaders:

Naomi Schillman 15 points

Kija Schultz 9 points

North Muskegon 6-3 overall

Newaygo 4-5 overall
