OAKRIDGE 45, ORCHARD VIEW 21: On a night when Oakridge celebrated all-time leading scorer Sophia Wiard, the host Eagles jumped out to an early lead and rolled to a WMC Lakes win over neighboring rival Orchard View for their first win of the season.
Oakridge led 16-2 after one quarter and 28-5 at halftime.
“My OV girls started out slow and got behind by a big margin,” Orchard View coach Jeff Sterken said. “Oakridge girls put some hard pressure on us and we struggled breaking the press.”

LUDINGTON 40, WHITEHALL 22: Host Ludington raced out to a 15-0 first-quarter lead and extended it to 25-2 by halftime in this WMC Lakes matchup. The Orioles won their third straight game, all in divisional play.

FREMONT 42, MONTAGUE 34: Visiting Fremont jumped out to a 16-6 first-quarter lead and extended it to 29-10 by halftime en route to the WMC Lakes win over Montague.
“I thought we came out with great energy and forced the pace to be fast,” Fremont coach Pete Zerfas said. “Our rotations are getting better each time we play and you can see the team chemistry is building day by day. I just love how hard this group works in practice and games and it is beginning to show positive results.”
Said Montague coach Jess DeBruin: “Free throws, missed layups, and turnovers in the first half got us behind early. But, overall, I am happy with the effort. We were shorthanded and they never gave up and brought a big deficit down to eight points late in the game. Games like this show us where we know we can be.”

HART 67, NORTH MUSKEGON 20: Back-to-back 3-pointers by Breslyn Porter and Rilynn Porter midway through the first quarter got visiting Hart rolling and on its way to a WMC Rivers victory.
“In the second quarter, with Addi Hovey in foul trouble, freshman Rilynn Porter was effective at getting to the rim and scoring through contact,” said Hart coach Travis Rosema, whose team will take on a tough Lake City squad at home on Monday. “Being able to extend the lead with Addi on the bench was huge for us, it was a great team effort.
“In the second half Hart continued to use pressure defense to make the Norse uncomfortable forcing turnovers and fast-break opportunities.”

MASON COUNTY CENTRAL 56, RAVENNA 17: Visiting Mason County Central scored the first 11 points of the game and led 40-13 at halftime en route to the WMC Rivers victory.
“We’ve been talking a lot about being better at the beginning of games and I was happy with how we started tonight,” said MCC coach Brian Beebe, whose team visits neighboring rival Ludington on Monday. “Our starters played very unselfishly and we got the job done on the road.”
