Whitehall edges Fruitport for first win of the season; Orchard View also picks up first victory.

Three girls nonleague basketball games involving West Michigan Conference teams took place Tuesday night.

Here is a roundup of the action from Dec. 19, 2023:

NONLEAGUE

WHITEHALL 39, FRUITPORT 38: Lianne Fagan’s 3-pointer in final moments lifted host Whitehall to its first victory of the season in a nonleague matchup against Fruitport, which suffered its first loss.

“The girls showed resilience tonight and were able to compete for a full 32 minutes for the first time this year,” Whitehall coach Brian Milliron said. “We made a ton of errors, especially in the first half, where we had 16 turnovers, but were able to make some offensive adjustments in the second half.

“Lianne Fagan showed great confidence in the fourth quarter, which was great to see.”
