Whitehall Clinches 4th Straight West Michigan Conference: Lakes Division Championship

“We are the champions, we are the champions… “

For the second consecutive year, the Vikings have stolen away the title. This time it would be Gavin Craner and a potent rushing offense that did the trick.

The game opened with a touchdown by Craner, one of his four throughout the night. Craner was unstoppable, totaling 238 yards on 20 attempts and averaging over 11 yards per carry. His momperformance was the linchpin in Whitehall’s offense, driving the team to 47-10 win over Ludington. This would be the story throughout the remainder of the night. Whitehall cruised with their effective yards on the ground and Ludington struggled to hold them defensively.

Not all was bad for the Orioles though, who managed to score a touchdown on a pass from Cameron Gunsell to Zachary Graham. Gunsell had a solid performance, throwing for 122 yards on 14-19 passing while also rushing for 44 yards on 15 keepers. Despite their efforts, Ludington couldn’t match the Vikings’ relentless pace and precision.

Whitehall’s offense was a well-oiled machine, with every cog contributing to the wheel. Though the defense also played a crucial role, shutting down Ludington’s attempts to gain ground and keeping the pressure on throughout the game. The Vikings’ ability to execute their game plan flawlessly was evident.

Looking ahead, Whitehall will finish up conference action next week against Fremont, who recently lost to Montague in a high-scoring 70-64 game. The Vikings are poised to continue their winning streak and solidify their position as the top team in the conference.

Ludington, now 5-2 on the season, will take on Orchard View next Friday in their final conference game. The Orioles will be looking to bounce back from this defeat and end their season on a high note.
