Whitehall’s speed and physicality were once again on display Friday night in a 48-0 victory over Ludington at Oriole Field.
Those traits helped produce balanced offense, dominant defense, and explosive special teams as the Vikings continued their impressive run through West Michigan Conference Lakes Division play.
This week, unbeaten Whitehall moved into the No. 1 spot in the Michigan Associated Press Division 4 rankings.
On the season, the Vikings (7-0, 4-0 WMC Lakes) have outscored their seven opponents by a combined 311-63 margin. In divisional play, they’ve outscored foes 166-7.
“Whitehall is a very, very good high school football team. They are so physical and so fast. It was so hard for us to sustain anything,” said Ludington coach Charlie Gunsell, whose team is now 3-4 overall and 2-3 in the WMC Lakes.
“We actually played well in the first (half) but just could not put points on the board. In the second half, (Whitehall’s) whole size and strength took over and they really pulled away from us and we had no answers.”
