SHELBY, MI – On Tuesday evening the West Michigan Conference concluded their cross country season with their final meet at Shelby High School. The course was a little longer than regulation and the weather was overcast and drizzly, but hart once again swept both the boys and girls meets with 36 and 21 pts. respectively. With the win, Hart clinched the girls and boys conference titles.

This has been the norm for both teams who are looking to round out the season and repeat their success from last years State tournament. In 2020, the Hart girls won their fourth straight state championship and are in pursuit of their fifth. The boys were state runner up and believe they have a good shot at the title this year as they round into form.

With Whitehall right on their heels (Richmond – 2, Buys – 3, and McIlroy – 4), the boys we able to hold on for the victory behind another strong performance by Clayton Ackley (18:44.59) – the overall winner.

The Whitehall girls also pushed the defending champs with four finishers in the top 15 (Fagan – 9, Treat – 11, Tate – 12, Mitteer – 15). It wasn’t enough to defeat a strong Hart team who was without all-state sophomore Alyson Enns. The Hart girls have become accustom to winning and Hart freshman Jessica Jazwinski (20:37.60) kept that tradition alive by claiming her first conference meet win. Her Hart teammates were not far behind as Audrianna Enns (21:12.87) and Lexie Beth Nienhuis (22:29.00) took second and fourth respectively.
