WMC Boys Basketball: Whitehall claims league title outright; Ravenna sneaks by Montague in OT thriller

North Muskegon’s big fourth quarter downs MCC; Oakridge breezes by Hart

WHITEHALL 43, SHELBY 39: At Whitehall, the Vikings cliched the West Michigan Conference title outright with a tough win over the Tigers. A strong defensive second quarter for Whitehall held Shelby to only 1 point, which allowed the Vikings to pull away. Late in the game, a lead advantage sent Whitehall to the line where they were able to maintain the lead for a final league victory.

Whitehall leaders:

Camden Thompson 23 points, 14 rebounds, 2 blocks

Isaac DeHart 6 points, 2 rebounds

Shelby leaders:

Joseph Hayes 16 points

Bishop Lee 8 points

RAVENNA 52, MONTAGUE 48: At Ravenna, the host Bulldogs jumped out to a 14-9 lead after the first quarter in their final league game of the year. The Wildcats clawed their way back and sent the game to overtime. In OT, the ‘Dogs edged the ‘Cats by a score of 7-3 to close out conference play.

NORTH MUSKEGON 53, NORTH MUSKEGON 37: At Mason County Central, both teams entered halftime with an even score at 20. The visiting Norse utilized a dominating fourth quarter to outscore the Spartans 17-2 to close out conference play.

OAKRIDGE 68, HART 39: At Hart, the visiting Eagles outscored the Pirates 27-3 in the first quarter. Oakridge continued to roll through the remainder of the game as they earned their final conference victory over Hart.
