WMC girls basketball: Whitehall rolls to victory; Oakridge loses heartbreaker

Shelby, North Muskegon and Ravenna also suffer nonleague losses.

WHITEHALL 51, FRUITPORT 17: In the first game after the holiday break, Whitehall traveled to Fruitport where the Vikings jumped out to a 25-8 halftime lead and never looked back. The Vikings held the Trojans to five points or fewer in each quarter. Charley Klint led Whitehall offensively with 25 points.

COOPERSVILLE 39, OAKRIDGE 38: At Coopersville, after leading through the first three quarters, Oakridge was unable to hang on down the stretch. The Eagles’ five-point fourth quarter allowed for the Broncos to come away with a one-point victory.

MONA SHORES 46, SHELBY 29: Shelby struggled to stay afloat in a nonleague game at Mona Shores. The Sailors built a 20-11 halftime lead and continued to pull away in the second half.

MANISTEE 41, NORTH MUSKEGON 21: At North Muskegon, the Norse had a strong first quarter en route to 14-12 advantage at the break. However, a dominating 20-2 fourth quarter from the Chippewas turned away the Norse.
