WMC wrestling: Ravenna, Mason County Central both go 1-1 in Division 4 team districts

Saturday’s individual districts up next for the Bulldogs and Spartans.

Ravenna’s and Mason County Central’s wrestling teams each won a match in the Division 4 team districts Thursday night before falling in the finals.

Here are the details from their respective districts Feb. 10, 2022:

RAVENNA

The Bulldogs beat host Holton, 48-18, in the team district semifinals before they lost to Hesperia in the finals, 56-30.

Wrestlers who went 2-0 for Ravenna included Norman Slade (125), Zeke Thompson (160), Juan Castillo (189), Brenden Forsythe (215) and Landen Goerbig (285).

Hesperia advances to next week’s team regional and will face Lakeview.

Ravenna will compete in the individual districts Saturday at Carson City-Crystal.

MASON COUNTY CENTRAL

At Manton, the Spartans defeated Fife Lake Forest Area, 36-27, in the team district semifinals before they fell to eighth-ranked LeRoy Pine River in the finals, 52-21.

Wrestlers who went 2-0 for Mason County Central were Hunter Sanford (112), Jacob Maidens (125), Zane McCabe (130) and Andrew Quinn (285).

Pine River will face Traverse City St. Francis in the team regionals next week.

MCC will compete in individual districts Saturday at Oscoda.
