The Whitehall wrestling team traveled to Kent City on Wednesday to compete in a season-opening meet. The Vikings walked away with two team victories to kick off the 2021-22 season.
The Vikings are expected to be a dominant force in not only the West Michigan Conference, but throughout the entire state. University of Michigan commit Ira Jenkins will lead the way this season as they fight to return to the state finals.

Montague visited host Fremont to open their wrestling season alongside fellow league opponent Mason County Central. The Wildcats suffered a tough loss to Fremont, but turned things around by defeating MCC for an important opening night win.
Montague coach Kris Maddox was proud of his teams effort and looks to improve moving forward after some shuffling of weight classes and resolved injuries. Maddox also noted the stellar performance from his girls squad, who went undefeated on the evening.

Hart’s wrestling team defeated both Pine River and St. Louis in their opening duals of the season. The Pirates look to be one of the WMC’s top contenders.

MASON COUNTY CENTRAL
MCC’s wrestling team took on Jenison and Montague on the opening Wednesday of the season. Despite having six open weight classes, the Spartans still put up a good fight against both schools.
Spartan coach Kendel Trim was happy with his teams performance for their first meet of the season and sees serious potential for his team to improve.
