Montague’s football team used a balanced rushing attack en route to a 28-7 road win over Fremont Friday night in West Michigan Conference Lakes Division action.
The Wildcats (3-4, 2-2 WMC Lakes) snapped a three-game skid with the victory. Two of the losses in their recent slide came against unbeaten teams, Whitehall and North Muskegon.
Fremont slips to 2-5 overall and 0-4 in the WMC Lakes.
Montague ran the ball 45 times for 295 yards, good for 6.6 yards per carry.

The game was tied at 7 at halftime before Montague pulled away with 21 second-half points.
Montague sophomore quarterback Mason Darke ran 18 times for 130 yards with two touchdowns.
Montague junior Ryver Jarka rushed 14 times for 80 yards.
Montague senior Adam Baird ran 10 times for 73 yards and two TDs.
Darke completed 4 of 7 passes for 28 yards. All four passes went to senior Paul Olson.
Montague sophomore Fletcher Thommen led the defense with three solo tackles and three assists.
Montague senior Joe Winkelman notched four solo tackles and one assist, including a tackle for loss.
Montague senior Ezekial Morales and junior Talan Degen also finished with four solo tackles and one assist.
For Fremont, Talen Reichert-Slater was 8-of-17 passing for 135 yards and a TD.
Fremont’s Kyler DeKuiper made three receptions for 95 yards and a TD. On defense, he had three tackles and an interception.
Defensively, Connor Pettis paced Fremont with 11 tackles.
Fremont’s Owen Hertel had nine tackles.
Fremont’s Quin Farrell made eight stops.
Fremont’s Noah Hansen had seven tackles.
Next Friday, Montague hosts Manistee while Fremont visits Whitehall.
