WMC NONDIVISIONAL
NORTH MUSKEGON 52, MANISTEE 47: Host North Muskegon used an 18-6 second-quarter scoring surge to stay unbeaten in the early season and hand Manistee its first defeat.
“This was a good game throughout. Close first quarter, then we were able to create a little separation in the second,” Norse coach Chuck Rypstra said. “Jaxon Lisinski hit two big 3s in the (second) quarter. Third quarter stayed the same and we felt pretty good entering the fourth.
“Manistee caught fire in the fourth and scored 20 points with five 3s in the quarter — three of them by Landin Sowa. We made just a few more plays down the stretch and enough free throws to win it.”

OAKRIDGE 76, SHELBY 34: Visiting Oakridge jumped ahead of Shelby, 17-8 in the first quarter and 38-16 at halftime, of this WMC nondivisional matchup to remain unbeaten. Oakridge shot 57 percent and had only 11 turnovers, while Shelby shot 43 percent and totaled 23 turnovers.
“Oakridge shot extremely well tonight to come away with a lopsided victory,” Shelby coach Rick Zoulek said. “We just couldn’t get on track offensively, which caused some easy transition baskets for the Eagles.
“Down 12-2 early, we scored three buckets to make it 12-8, but they scored the next five points to end the quarter 17-8. That was as close as it got.”
